Beyond the reasons, Apple also confirmed that it would be including Lightning EarPods in the box with the upcoming flagship iPhones, which should help alleviate some of the issue right out of the box. But, for anyone that still wants to use their headphones terminating in a 3.5mm headphone jack, Apple is also including a Lightning-to-3.5mm-headphone adapter in the box, too.
That was rumored up to this point, so it’s not that big of a surprise. However, for anyone who might lose that adapter can expect to pay a whopping $9 to get a new one. Apple has the landing page for the adapter live right now, but it’s unavailable to buy right now.
It’s good to see Apple won’t be charging an arm-and-a-leg for the adapter, just in case.
